Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American singer and musician is best known for her musical talents. She was the first person of her generation to be a member of an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London and New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first show on stage in New Delhi. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising career in recording and performing despite being young. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. She released her debut solo album Anourag in 1998. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Alongside performing at every major venue, she also has a long stage career. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't restricted to just music. Bapi The Love of My Life is a illustrated biographical work she wrote in 2002. It pays special tributes to her father, who passed away in 2002. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and there will be many more things to come from this amazing woman. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her growing up split between London as well as Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and enrolled in high school there. She started learning to play the guitar at age 9 and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Anoushka has gained lots of experience touring around the globe together with the father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. The House of Commons Shield was given an award from the British Parliament for being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and the youngest winner of the prize.
